The Department of Sociology of Hunter College of the City University of New York seeks to fill an Assistant Professor position beginning in September 2014.  We are located in New York, New York and offer a liberal arts major as well as a master’s program to a large, diverse and vibrant study body. Hunter College is one of the eleven senior colleges of the City University of New York with close to 20,000 students; the Department of Sociology has over 400 majors.

We seek candidates with expertise in culture, law, criminology, social movements, and/or comparative sociology. Preference will be given to those able to and interested in teaching statistics and quantitative methods as well as Introduction to Sociology. Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

The Department of Sociology, Hunter College of the City University of New York, is looking to hire a sociologist at the Assistant Professor level to begin in September 2014. Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. We seek a sociologist with demonstrated expertise in the areas of social policy (including social work), inequality, and stratification and/or education.  Excellence in both research and teaching are needed.  Preference will be given to those able to and interested in teaching statistics and quantitative methods as well as Introduction to Sociology.
